The aim of the Laboratory is to build an Observatory on the dynamics of the population and the local economy. The Observatory will synthesize data on demographic flows and productive dynamics in the Province of Siena, highlighting the fundamental themes related to local development: the depopulation of villages, the identification of integrated and connected economic areas, the concept of community as overcoming purely bureaucratic boundaries (municipalities, provinces).
The Laboratory will coordinate research projects involving not only the university but also local institutions (Municipalities, Region).
The Laboratory will offer opportunities for curricular internships for students of DISPI degree programs and research internships for graduates. Finally, the Laboratory offers an effective tool for developing contacts with other research centers.
