Within the regulations of the Bachelor's Degree Program (L-36) and Master's Degree Programs (LM-52, LM-63), under "other educational activities," a maximum of 4 ECTS credits are awarded for the acquisition of "other knowledge useful for entering the job market" and a maximum of 4 ECTS credits for the completion of "training and orientation internships" (Art. 10, paragraph 5, letter d of Ministerial Decree No. 270 of October 22, 2004).
The ECTS credits in these areas are awarded by the Teaching Committees based on the following guidelines:
- Students may choose between internships and traineeships offered directly by the University (which must, however, be attributable to a pre-structured and recognized project/program with its own objectives) or independently chosen internship and traineeship projects, preferably outside the academic community. Each project must specify the subject and objectives, clearly demonstrating its relevance to the Curriculum, whether it involves scientific research activities or another work-related activity that allows, even broadly, the application of knowledge acquired in the chosen curriculum. This orientation also applies to working students, for whom, however, particular limitations that may arise in individual cases will be taken into account.
- Each project must be approved in advance by the Committee based on its capacity to enhance knowledge useful for entering the job market and its coherence with the chosen curriculum. Projects that merely support the teaching or scientific activities of professors or are related to study courses and/or exams, theses, etc., are not approvable.
- The awarding of ECTS credits cannot exceed 4 ECTS credits and is determined: (a) based on the completeness of the final information that must be provided (daily log, student's final report, and company tutor's final report countersigned by the academic tutor); (b) based on the number of hours worked, equivalent to 1 ECTS credit for every 17 hours of actual work (following the criterion of 1 credit for every 25 hours, considering that for every 2 hours of work, an additional 1 hour of evaluation, study, updates, and bureaucratic procedures is calculated).
- For incarcerated students, their particular situation and the objective limitations it may entail must be taken into account, as well as the training opportunities for internships and traineeships that the prison authorities, the University, and the academic staff will be able to provide to them. Prior authorization from the Committee remains mandatory, which, except as stated above, will nevertheless be guided by the educational purpose that the presented project must demonstrate.
- The recognition of "other activities" provided for in the study plan can take place simultaneously with the recognition of the internship if the student completes an internship for a number of hours sufficient to also cover the ECTS credits for "other activities." Therefore, to request the recognition of 4 ECTS credits for the internship and 4 ECTS credits for "other activities," the student must complete 140 hours of internship.
These are internship periods undertaken by students regularly enrolled at the University at Entities and Companies external to the University, with whom it is necessary to verify the existence of an agreement with UNISI.
