On 27 March 2026, at 3:00 pm, the webinar “AI Governance and Work in Italy. A comparative analysis of industrial relations in the platform economy and telecommunications” will take place. The event is promoted by IAGOLAB – Artificial Intelligence and Governance at the Department of Political and International Sciences – DISPI of the University of Siena.
The seminar will be delivered by Luigi Di Cataldo (University of Milan – ENIA) and moderated by Andrea Del Forno (University of Siena).
The webinar will explore the governance of artificial intelligence in the Italian labour context through a comparison between the platform economy and the telecommunications sector. Particular attention will be paid to the role of industrial relations in shaping the quality of work.
The analysis shows that in more innovative contexts, characterised by weaker trade union presence, regulatory responses tend to be less effective, resulting in poorer working conditions. The seminar will conclude with a set of policy recommendations aimed at strengthening protections and adapting them to the organisational specificities of emerging markets.
