On Monday 20 October 2025 at 2:30 pm, the Department of Political and International Sciences (DISPI) inaugurates the Taiwan Studies Centre Siena (TSCS) with a public launch meeting. Following the department’s greetings, Ambassador Vincent Y. C. Tsai (Taipei Representative Office in Italy) and Giulio Pugliese (European University Institute) will speak; Pugliese will present and discuss a report on the potential of EU–Taiwan cooperation and on what lessons Europe can draw from the United States and other actors. Andrea Francioni, director of the TSCS, and Chiachi Wu will outline the Centre’s mission and forthcoming activities; the discussion will feature Eleonora Pennino as discussant and will be chaired by Matteo Gerlini.
The event will be held in person in the Conference Room (3rd floor), Polo Mattioli, University of Siena, and will be live-streamed on the YouTube channel Eventi Mattioli.
