Elimu-African Summer School, Florence, 7-13 July 2025
Elimu means education in the Swahili language. The course, desired and conceived by the Comboni Missionaries, in collaboration with Summer School International, Fondazione Nigrizia Onlus, The Recovery Plan, is aimed at university students interested in deepening their knowledge of the African continent, its complexities and opportunities through intercultural dialogue. The Summer School includes a residential Campus from 7 to 13 July 2025, in the city of Florence, at the house of the Comboni Missionaries, entitled "African Renaissance: innovation and technology". The students will have the opportunity to discuss with experts the consequences of a digital revolution that is reshaping the whole of society, but in particular a continent like Africa projected towards the use of advanced technologies to be constructively combined with its traditions. Hence the concept of “Renaissance” considered in a perspective of positive change, active involvement and participation of young Africans and Europeans. The primary objective is to solicit in the students the ability to measure themselves against the cultural, historical and geographical diversity of Africa, improving their levels of understanding and knowledge of the socio-economic and political challenges.
