
Research indicates that Emotional Intelligence skills play a central role in the academic, personal, and social lives of children beyond the effects of personality and general intelligence. Experts in the field of education argue that empathy and emotional intelligence can improve our society, also representing a strategy to foster the development of each person's potential.
The PoEmS project aims to:
- Promote the development of emotional intelligence within the student community and the teaching staff as a key competence that can contribute to improving inclusion at the lower secondary school level.
- Support teachers in creating an educational environment where learners can develop their emotional intelligence skills to consolidate their key competences.
- Enhance the student community's ability to develop their personal and interpersonal skills based on emotional intelligence.
The target groups involved in the project are:
- Teachers who work with students aged between 11 and 15 years.
- Students aged 11 to 15 years.
The project will produce the following final results:
- A comprehensive digital training package that makes available a self-assessment tool and training materials intended for teachers to deepen their knowledge of the importance of emotional intelligence and the educational methods and tools necessary to promote emotional intelligence as a key competence in schools.
- A collection of lesson plans on how to use innovative methodologies based on emotional intelligence to improve the personal and interpersonal key competences of the student community, in order to also have an impact in terms of solidarity and inclusion.
- A publication that promotes awareness of the link between the mastery of emotional intelligence and the improvement of the inclusiveness of learning environments.
